2020 ROSE & SHAMROCK FESTIVAL SOLO PIPING COMPETITION

The Rose & Shamrock Festival and The Piobaireachd Society of Central Pennsylvania are pleased to offer the following competitive events. These events are sanctioned by the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA), and all EUSPBA rules & regulations will apply. (See www.euspba.org for details.)

The piping competition will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at the Lancaster Marriott and Convention Center in Lancaster, PA.
Rules & Regulations for Sanctioned Events
All of the listed events are sanctioned by the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA), except 601. All competitors in sanctioned events must be a member in good standing of the EUSPBA or other recognized piping association. All EUSPBA rules and regulations apply. The contest committee reserves the right to cancel any and all events.
Entries must be postmarked by February 3, 2020. Competitors in Grades 1-4 will pay $35 for
access to all events in their grade. Competitors in Grade 5 will pay $15 for access to both
events in their grade. Competitors in the Practice Chanter will pay $8.
A tentative competition schedule will be posted on the internet at www.roseandshamrock.org
and www.pennpiob.org by February 12, 2020, to announce registration and start times.
Registration will tentatively start at 7:30 a.m. with competition beginning around 8:30 a.m.
The competitions will be held rain or shine. This is an indoor event.
All competitors (except Practice Chanter) must compete in appropriate highland attire.
Gr. IV is split into two separate categories according to age: 17 & Under (Jr.) and Age 18 &
Over (Sr.). See EUSPBA rules for details.
Order of play will be determined by the reverse order in which entries are received. The first
entry received will be the last to play. Event 601 will be the first event working towards Grade
1 in the afternoon.
Awards will be given for first through third place in each event. The judge has the right to
award one less prize than the number of competitors.
An overall award will be given to a piper in each grade. The winner will be determined by
points with 1st Place = 6 points, 2nd Place = 3 points, 3rd Place = 1 point with Piobaireachd, then
2/4 March, then Strathspey & Reel breaking any ties.
All protests should be made in writing and lodged with the Contest Committee before the end
of the games day. All protests shall be dealt with by the Contest Committee, whose decision
shall be binding by all parties concerned.
The list of sanctioned events assumes that the events will be sanctioned by the EUSPBA 2020
Rules. The list of events may be adjusted to adhere to EUSPBA rules once they are published.
